After an blistering knock for Royal Challengers Bangalore AB de Villers has been termed by captain Virat Kohli as the best batsman of this generation. De Villiers smashed 82 from 42 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad, which lead his team to an 45-run victory. De Villiers along with Kohli added 157 runs for the second wicket, their second best together for RCB. Kohli himself was quite brilliant making 51-balls 75, playing second fiddle to de Villiers. De Villiers and Kohli laid the platform for the likes of Shane Watson and Sarfaraz Khan put the finishing touches to the RCB innings which ended up making 227 for 4, leaving SRH to chase 228, David Warner was the only contributor to the SRH innings which ended on 186 for 6 in 20 overs.
“It’s always wonderful,” Kohli said to the broadcaster when asked what it was like sharing another huge partnership with his South Africa teammate.
“Last year we had a brilliant partnership as well in Mumbai. He took a bit of pressure off me there. I wanted to get off the blocks (fast), but he came in and started hitting the ball like only he can, and showed why he is the best batsman of this generation,” Kohli added as reported bycricket.com.au.
Speaking of Kohli and de Villiers, new member of the RCB family Shane Watson expressed his views that he is looking for to playing with them in IPL 9, Watson believes that he is looking to make a fresh start and is also looking forward to playing with them. “It is an exciting chapter in my cricketing career, starting with a new team in the IPL.
